Luxury Cruise MV World Odyssey Returns to Mombasa with International Students

Date:

MOMBASA, KENYA — The MV World Odyssey, popularly known as the ‘Semester at Sea’ vessel, has returned to the Port of Mombasa, bringing 609 international students and 183 crew members for a six-day stay.

The ship arrived from Cochin, India, marking its sixth visit to the Kenyan port. Among the passengers are three Kenyans, one student and two lecturers, joining the international cohort for immersive learning experiences.

During their stay, students will explore Kenya’s rich wildlife, culture, and heritage, engaging in hands-on educational activities that complement their studies at sea.

Cruise tourism, noted as the fastest-growing segment in the global travel industry, has been expanding at the Port of Mombasa, with increasing vessel traffic highlighting Kenya’s potential as a leading regional destination for luxury cruise experiences.

The Kenya Ports Authority says the continued arrival of international cruise ships signals a promising future for the country’s tourism sector, supporting local businesses and boosting cultural exchange.
