NAIROBI, Kenya – Former Kipipiri Member of Parliament Amos Kimunya has paid a moving tribute to his late wife, Lucy Wanjiru Muhinga, on the second anniversary of her passing.
In a heartfelt social media post, Kimunya reflected on Lucy’s enduring influence on his life, describing her as a loving partner whose memory continues to guide him daily.
“On this date, 30th January, two years ago, our dear Lucy Wanjiru Muhinga left us, but her memory lives on in my heart and every day of life, as I keep cherishing the love and beautiful moments we shared over the 40-odd years I knew her,” Kimunya wrote. “We believe her ever-happy soul is somewhere up in heaven, watching over us, and constantly guiding our life.”
Lucy Muhinga passed away on January 30, 2024, while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
She and Kimunya were married for over three decades, having met as Bachelor of Commerce students at the University of Nairobi.
Their long-standing union produced a close-knit family and left a lasting impact on friends and the wider community.
Reflecting on the ongoing adjustment to life without her, Kimunya expressed gratitude for the support of family and friends.
“It has been another year of adjusting to the loss and new reality, and thankfully, the support system of friends and family has accelerated the ongoing recovery. To all those who have stood with us on this journey, we say a big thank you, and may God bless you aplenty,” he said.
He went on to emphasise the depth of his personal loss and the continued presence of Lucy’s spirit in his life:
“I miss her dearly, will always love her, and will always thank God for having given her to us for those years we spent together. May her soul rest in eternal peace and her spirit live within us forever.”
Lucy Muhinga is fondly remembered by extended family members, including the Irungu and Kimunya families, and by friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta previously eulogised her as a servant leader whose deeds impacted many both in Kenya and abroad.
As the family observes the second anniversary of her passing, Kimunya’s tribute stands as a public acknowledgment of Lucy’s life, the love they shared, and her enduring legacy.
