DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania — The Shinyanga Solar PV Project, constructed by the Power Construction Corporation of China, has successfully achieved full-capacity grid connection, marking a major milestone for Tanzania’s renewable energy sector.

The development officially brings Tanzania’s first photovoltaic power station into full-scale operation, signaling the country’s growing commitment to clean and sustainable energy.

Located in Shinyanga, the solar plant is expected to contribute significantly to the national power supply while helping reduce reliance on fossil fuels and hydropower.

Officials say the project strengthens Tanzania’s energy security and aligns with broader regional efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure across Tanzania.
