NAIROBI, Kenya- Victoria Wealth Management Limited, a subsidiary of Victoria Commercial Bank PLC, has joined the Nairobi Securities Exchange as a trading participant, widening the pool of intermediaries serving investors and companies seeking capital.
The NSE said the admission forms part of its efforts to deepen market participation, widen investor access and strengthen the distribution of investment services across Kenya’s capital markets.
As a trading participant, Victoria Wealth Management will facilitate the buying and selling of securities listed on the NSE, execute client investment orders and provide investment advisory and portfolio-management services within the scope of its regulatory licence.
The Nairobi-based firm is licensed by the Capital Markets Authority as an investment bank.
Boost for market access
NSE Chief Executive Officer Frank Mwiti said the exchange’s growing network of market intermediaries was vital in linking investors with investment opportunities and companies with long-term capital.
“We are pleased to welcome Victoria Wealth Management Limited to the NSE as a Trading Participant,” Mwiti said.
“Expanding our network of market intermediaries is central to our strategy of revitalising Kenya’s capital markets, deepening investor participation and making the market more accessible to a broader segment of the population.”
Mwiti said investment banks also play an important role beyond securities trading by supporting companies through capital raising, corporate finance advisory and other strategic transactions.
The NSE said Victoria Wealth Management will be able to support existing and prospective issuers seeking to raise capital through the exchange. Its services are expected to include advisory on equity and debt capital raising, public offers, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, as well as the underwriting and issuance of securities, subject to regulatory approvals.
Supporting capital formation
The exchange said the addition of Victoria Wealth Management would help broaden participation by investors, strengthen investment-product distribution and improve the depth and liquidity of Kenya’s capital markets.
Victoria Wealth Management Chief Executive Officer Sital Borkhataria said joining the NSE was an important milestone for the firm and would expand the investment solutions available to its clients.
“Becoming a Trading Participant of the NSE is an important milestone for Victoria Wealth Management Limited and broadens the investment solutions we can offer our clients,” Borkhataria said.
“As a subsidiary of Victoria Commercial Bank PLC, we are committed to providing clients with access to investment opportunities in Kenya’s capital markets, supported by professional guidance and a client-focused approach.”
She said the firm was looking forward to connecting more investors to listed securities while working with companies exploring capital-raising opportunities.
The NSE is Kenya’s principal securities exchange and operates under the jurisdiction of the Capital Markets Authority. It provides a platform for local and international investors and issuers seeking exposure to Kenya’s and Africa’s economic growth.
