NAIROBI, Kenya – The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ) has interdicted its Commission Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Mercy Wambua, for 14 days to pave way for investigations into allegations of gross misconduct and incompetence.
The decision was reached during the 73rd Commission meeting held on October 15, 2025, and formally communicated through a letter signed by Commission Chairperson Charles Dulo.
“In the interim, the Director of Corporate Services will serve as the Acting Commission Secretary,” Dulo said in the statement, directing all staff to fully cooperate with the acting head during the transition period.
Wambua, who took over as CEO in March 2022, previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), where she also held key administrative roles including Secretary to the Advocates Disciplinary Tribunal and Secretary to the Advocates Benevolent Association.
She has also served on the Board of Kituo cha Sheria and worked at the former Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs.
The Commission did not disclose further details regarding the allegations or the timeline for concluding the probe.
