NAIROBI, Kenya — Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court Martha Koome has announced a new lineup to the Auctioneers Licensing Board, marking a fresh start for the body that regulates the country’s auctioneering profession.
In a Gazette Notice dated November 7, 2025, Justice Koome appointed Njeri Thuku as the chairperson of the board, with Festus Terer named as secretary and Harrison Barasa appointed as a member.
The changes, which take effect on Monday, November 10, 2025, follow the revocation of previous appointments held by Felix Kombo, Antony Mwicigi, and Stella Atambo.
The Auctioneers Licensing Board plays a key role in licensing and regulating auctioneers, enforcing professional standards, and handling disciplinary cases involving misconduct in the sector.
The board also reviews complaints, oversees inspections, and ensures that auctioneering practices comply with Kenya’s Auctioneers Act and related regulations.
The appointments come as the Judiciary continues to strengthen oversight within key professional and regulatory bodies, ensuring that processes tied to asset recovery, property disposal, and debt enforcement are handled with transparency and accountability.
Observers say the changes reflect Koome’s ongoing push to enhance integrity and efficiency in judicial and quasi-judicial institutions that directly impact the justice sector’s credibility and public trust.
