NAIROBI, Kenya — Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir today conducted an inspection of ongoing works along the James Gichuru–Rironi section of the A8 Highway, accompanied by PS Eng. Joseph Mbugua and Acting KeNHA DG Eng Luka Kimeli.
The team reviewed progress on pavement rehabilitation, widening, drainage improvements, junction upgrades, and traffic management measures.
Officials said the exercise aimed to ensure that construction quality, safety standards, and timelines align with design expectations.
While on site, the delegation also met with the Headmistress of Alliance Girls High School to discuss ongoing and proposed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, as well as the development of the Rironi Interchange.

The James Gichuru–Rironi corridor is a key arterial route in Kenya’s national road network, connecting regional freight corridors with the Nairobi Metropolitan Area.
Once completed, the upgrades are expected to reduce travel time, cut vehicle operating costs, and improve the reliability and safety of transport along the route.
Officials said the road improvements will support regional trade, logistics, and economic growth, while enhancing access to Nairobi and surrounding areas for both commuters and freight operators.
CS Chirchir emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring that national road projects meet both technical and safety standards, reinforcing efficiency and reliability for users across the corridor.
