DCI Coast Region Intensifies Crackdown as Detectives Arrest Multiple Drug Suspects

NAIROBI, Kenya- Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit in the Coast Region, working jointly with the Operation Support Unit from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters, have intensified operations targeting the sale, distribution, and consumption of illicit drugs along Kenya’s coastline.

The latest coordinated raids, conducted across Mombasa and Kwale counties, have resulted in multiple arrests and significant recoveries of suspected narcotics.

Kisimani Raid Nets Suspected Narcotics, Stolen Phones

Acting on credible intelligence, detectives raided a residence in the Kisimani area linked to Daudi Ahmed Ali.

During the search, officers recovered a whitish powdery substance wrapped in clear polythene, suspected to be narcotics. 

Detectives also seized assorted unserviceable mobile phones believed to be stolen property.

The suspect was arrested and escorted to Bamburi Police Station, where he was booked.

The recovered items were secured pending weighing, sampling and forensic analysis.

Majaoni Operation Yields Sachets, Suspected Proceeds of Crime

In a separate operation in the Majaoni area of Shanzu, detectives searched a rental house belonging to John Wangumo Wachiri.

The search led to the recovery of a red shopping bag containing loose dry plant material suspected to be narcotics, along with 21 sachets of similar material wrapped in clear polythene. 

Officers also recovered Sh3,700 in assorted denominations believed to be proceeds of crime.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Bamburi Police Station, where both he and the exhibits remain in custody pending further analysis.

Ukunda, Lungalunga Suspects Arrested

Meanwhile, at Corner Musa within Ukunda Township, a search conducted at the residence of Popin Mutisya yielded 21 large rolls of dry plant material suspected to be cannabis. 

The suspect was booked at Ukunda Police Station as investigations continue.

In Lungalunga’s Jua Kali area, detectives arrested Mwaura Katana Mgaza and seized 40 large rolls of what is suspected to be cannabis sativa. 

He was transported to Lungalunga Police Station, where the seized items were secured for processing and further analysis.

Public Urged to Report Drug Peddlers

The Coast Region has in recent months seen heightened enforcement operations as authorities step up the fight against narcotics trafficking and substance abuse.

Police say the crackdown remains a top priority, warning traffickers and dealers that they will face the full force of the law.

Members of the public have been urged to report suspicious activities anonymously as security agencies continue efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.
