NAIROBI, Kenya- Eldoret State Lodge is one of several official presidential residences in Kenya, serving as a base for the nation’s head of state and senior government officials whenever they are in Uasin Gishu County for official duties.
State Lodges across Kenya are distinct from the main State Houses, which are the primary official residences.
State Houses (such as Nairobi, Mombasa and Nakuru) often serve as both administrative centres and living quarters for the President, while State Lodges function mainly as regional residences and meeting venues.
Located within the Elgon View area of Eldoret, the lodge has hosted important national engagements.
President William Ruto issued his New Year statement from the State Lodge.
I joined President H.E. Dr William Ruto, senior government officials, and other distinguished guests at the Eldoret State Lodge to celebrate the New Year 2026.As we begin this New Year, I extend my warmest greetings to all Kenyans. I pray that the year brings fresh beginnings
Ruto also received Kenyan Olympic medalists at the Eldoret State Lodge, hosting them for a reception before other local activities.
The lodge is used for presidential visits and official functions in the region.
It supports government outreach beyond the capital, allowing leadership to meet stakeholders, government officials and the public during tours of the Rift Valley.
Renovation and Land Issues
Eldoret State Lodge has been part of ongoing renovation efforts aimed at maintaining and improving State Lodges across the country.
Renovations that began as far back as 2015 have faced delays, with reports indicating that work on the Eldoret facility remained limited as of recent government budget reviews.
The lodge’s surrounding land has also been the subject of land‑use disputes.
Investigations by the National Land Commission indicated that parts of the State Lodge land in Eldoret were irregularly titled to private developers, leading to government action to recover public land and prevent further unlawful transactions.
Presided over by H.E. President @WilliamsRuto, we ushered in the New Year at the Eldoret State Lodge, in a spirit of gratitude for the year past and optimism for the future. The occasion offered an opportunity to take stock of the milestones and progress achieved in 2025 and to
