Endebess Police Dismantle Notorious ‘Kapenguria Six’ Criminal Gang

Date:

ENDEBESS, Kenya — Law enforcement officers in Endebess Sub-County have dismantled a notorious criminal gang, known locally as the ‘Kapenguria Six’, following a joint operation targeting criminal networks terrorising the area.

The six suspects—Juma Wanjala, Samson Kapolon Ewoi, Thomas Esakon Lorongoi, Linus Wekesa Wasilwa, Moses Kisuya Wekesa, and Ezra Simiyu Nyongesa—have been linked to a string of violent incidents affecting residents of Kaisheber, Nabeki, Cherubai, and surrounding communities.

During the operation, officers recovered weapons, including a military jungle belt, a beret, and three pangas, underscoring the gang’s preparedness to commit violent crimes.

The suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing processing as investigations continue ahead of their forthcoming court appearances.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the arrests form part of ongoing efforts to curb organised crime and enhance security in western Kenya, sending a stern warning to other criminal groups operating in the region.

“Law enforcement agencies remain committed to protecting citizens and dismantling criminal networks that threaten public safety,” DCI Kenya said in a statement.

The crackdown follows growing community complaints about armed robberies, assaults, and intimidation by organised gangs in Endebess Sub-County.

Authorities have vowed to sustain operations targeting criminal elements to restore law and order.
