NAIROBI, Kenya- Emerging political figure Oketch Salah has drawn attention after hosting a group of key ODM grassroots leaders in Nairobi, signaling both his growing influence and a potential recalibration of alliances within the party.
During the meeting, Salah unveiled an empowerment initiative aimed at strengthening leadership and promoting economic opportunities for members.
The program, set to roll out early next year, will target 10 members — five men and five women — with resources including motorcycles for youths, hairdressing equipment, and Sh50,000 startup funds for women.
He also presented a Sh1 million New Year gift hamper to those present.

Analysts note that while the initiative addresses practical empowerment, it also serves as a strategic political move.
Salah, who rose to prominence following the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has recently been vocal in questioning ODM leadership, including Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, for not supporting President William Ruto’s re-election bid.
Hosting grassroots leaders, observers say, allows him to build visibility and loyalty at the local level, positioning himself as an emerging influencer within political circles.
Political analysts argue that Salah’s engagement reflects a broader trend in Kenyan politics, where economic empowerment and grassroots outreach are increasingly intertwined with political capital.
