NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Mukurwe-Ini MP Kabando wa Kabando has appealed to Ngunjiri Wambugu, a former MP and former aide to Rigathi Gachagua during his tenure as Deputy President, and Gathoni wa Muchomba, MP for Githunguri, to stop public criticisms of Gachagua and focus on opposition unity.
In a message directed to both, Kabando warned that sustained attacks on Gachagua, who currently leads DCP, could inadvertently benefit President William Ruto’s political agenda and weaken opposition momentum.
“Kindly step back and stop aggravations on RiggyG. We are too deep into the last lap to disrupt the momentous race against time,” Kabando said.
He urged both lawmakers to focus on collaborative initiatives, including addressing pressing national issues such as illicit drugs, rather than airing grievances in public forums.
Kabando acknowledged that political disagreements are natural but emphasized that disputes should be managed privately, preserving unity and strategic cohesion.
He described Gachagua as an “important, vibrant, indispensable cog” in the opposition, urging colleagues to consolidate efforts for a stronger collective front.
The former MP also reminded Ngunjiri and Gathoni of past engagements and opportunities to collaborate, stressing that dialogue remains key to advancing shared political goals.
“All patriots should gather and pool together. Implosions eat all,” he added.

Kabando is seeking to return to elective politics using DCP.
He will be vying for Nyeri senatorial seat.
“Very few guys can resist Ruto’s moneybags. Cornered, marooned, and extremely desperate, Ruto will do anything to stop RiggyG while killing ODM. It’s not easy to defeat Kasongo, yet we must floor him with a giant margin,” the firebrand politician cautioned.
