ELDORET, Kenya — The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has officially received a new group of recruits under Cohort 01/25, marking the start of their military journey at the Defence Forces Recruit Training School (DFRTS) in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The event, held on Monday, was presided over by Brigadier Alphonce Ndar, who congratulated the recruits for successfully joining the ranks of Kenya’s defence forces and urged them to embrace discipline, resilience, and teamwork throughout their training.
“I wish you nothing but success. Stay healthy, take care of yourselves, and approach your training with discipline and commitment,” Brig Ndar told the recruits.
The recruits are set to undergo document verification, medical screening, biometric registration, and issuance of kits, followed by an initial orientation program before embarking on comprehensive military training.
The foundational training at DFRTS focuses on discipline, physical conditioning, field craft, leadership development, and core soldiering skills — all aimed at preparing them to serve with excellence and integrity in various units of the KDF.
This year’s cohort includes both General Duty recruits and Tradesmen and Tradeswomen, reflecting the KDF’s continued efforts to strengthen its operational capacity across multiple specializations.
The Defence Forces Recruit Training School remains the bedrock of Kenya’s military preparedness, shaping young men and women into professional soldiers dedicated to national service, peacekeeping, and security.
