KIAMBU, Kenya- Kiambu County is set to deliver a strong showing for President William Ruto in the 2027 elections, National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa has said.
Speaking at a church event in Gatundu North on Sunday, attended by President Ruto, Ichungwa confidently assured supporters that Kiambu would remain a key stronghold for the President.
“I want to assure you, even in 2027, Kiambu County will be a majority county in Kenya in terms of votes for you as a two-term President,” he said.

The event, which also saw the presence of Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, turned tense as political allegiances clashed.
Ruto allies reportedly went head-to-head with the governor in heated exchanges, reflecting simmering local political rivalries.
Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a, who has previously expressed ambitions to challenge Governor Wamatangi in 2027, and area MP Njoroge Kururia also attended the gathering, stirring emotions among attendees.

The church event, intended as a community gathering, underscored the deep political divisions within Kiambu, even among leaders aligned with the President.
Analysts say the tension reflects the complex local dynamics, with multiple leaders positioning themselves for influence ahead of the next general election.
President Ruto, while present, urged the leaders to focus on serving the electorates.
