Marsabit Residents to Get Faster Services as New Sub-Counties Set to Open

Date:

MARSABIT, Kenya- Marsabit County is poised for a significant boost in administrative services as the government moves to operationalize more sub-counties in the coming weeks.

Speaking at Africa Inland Church (AIC) Loglogo in Marsabit County during commemoration of 60 years of the church, President William Ruto announced that Uran Sub-County will be operational within the next two weeks, with a Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) already scheduled for deployment.

“Sagante and Jaldesa will also be operationalized within 2–3 weeks,” the President confirmed.

He urged locals calling for gazettement of more administrative units in the vast county to present proposals to relevant authorities in accordance with constitutional provisions.

The event was also attended by the Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen
who reaffirmed government’s commitment to improve service delivery, and ensure that historically marginalized communities have better access to government programs and resources.

“With Korr and Ileret sub-counties now operational, we are mobilizing resources to operationalize more gazetted administrative units in the county so that we bring government services near you,” said CS Murkomen.

He further highlighted the ongoing Usajili Mashinani mobile ID registration drive, which is targeting over 72,000 residents of age who have historically been left out of national services and development initiatives.
