MALAVA, Kenya – Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has resurfaced on the campaign trail, joining senior United Opposition leaders in Malava Constituency to rally support for DAP–Kenya candidate Seth Panyako ahead of Thursday’s parliamentary by-election.
Matiang’i, who campaigned alongside Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP–K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, said the coalition was united in securing victory for Panyako, describing him as a committed defender of residents’ rights.
“We are determined to bring this home,” Matiang’i said, expressing confidence that Panyako would champion the needs of Malava if elected. “We in Jubilee stand firmly with our colleagues in the United Opposition to rally behind his candidacy.”
I am confident that Seth Panyako, if elected, will stand resolutely for the rights of the people of Malava. We in Jubilee stand with our colleagues in the United Opposition to rally behind his candidacy. Let us bring it home!
The Malava contest has attracted heightened national attention as the United Opposition intensifies joint campaigns across Western Kenya in what leaders describe as a show of growing unity and political coordination.
Kalonzo and Wamalwa are leading the coalition’s third and final round of rallies in the constituency, urging residents to vote in a leader they say will offer “credible representation” and strengthen the opposition’s parliamentary voice.
The by-election is scheduled for Thursday.
