Merishaw School Dismisses Viral Assault Video as Old, Says Students Were Expelled

NAIROBI, Kenya- Merishaw School has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media showing a student assault, saying the footage is old and does not reflect the current situation at the institution.

In a statement dated March 16, 2026, the school said the incident captured in the clip had already been addressed, with disciplinary action taken against those involved.

The clarification comes amid growing concern online, where the video has been widely shared and discussed.

School Says Incident Was Already Handled

According to the school, the video relates to a past incident that was fully investigated and resolved.

“The video is old and does not reflect the current environment at our school,” the institution said.

Management confirmed that the students involved were disciplined and expelled in line with school policies.

The school did not provide further details about the specific incident shown in the footage but maintained that appropriate action had already been taken.

Bullying Concerns Raised Online

The viral clip appears to show a group of boys confronting and physically assaulting another student, sparking concern among parents and the public.

Despite the backlash, the school emphasized that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy on bullying.

“Our school does not tolerate bullying in any form. Every student is safe, respected, and protected while on campus,” the statement read.

School Strengthens Safety Measures

Merishaw School said it has since strengthened its internal systems to ensure student safety and well-being.
