Date:

MURANG’A, Kenya — Police officers from Kenol Police Station have recovered a large cache of contraband goods, including illicit liquor and counterfeit tax stickers, hidden in a residential building in Kimorori, Murang’a South Sub-County.

The discovery came after a house agent reported unusual activity at a property rented by one Peter Waembu Waweru, who had failed to pay rent for two months and mysteriously disappeared.

Concerned about the locked house, the agent alerted the area sub-chief, who noticed suspicious activity inside, prompting a police investigation.

All items are currently held at Kenol Police Station as exhibits while authorities continue the manhunt for Waweru, who remains at large.

The recovery underscores ongoing efforts by law enforcement to clamp down on the illicit liquor trade, which has been linked to tax evasion and public health risks.
