NPS, Britam Launch Nationwide Police Life Insurance Sensitisation

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The National Police Service (NPS), in partnership with Britam Life Assurance Company (K) Ltd., has commenced a nationwide sensitisation exercise on the Staff Group Life Insurance Scheme targeting police and prison officers.

The programme officially began on Monday with sessions held in Nairobi, Eldoret, Oloitoktok, Nyeri, Malindi, Maua, Kisumu, and Vihiga, marking the rollout of the countrywide awareness campaign.

Three-Year Comprehensive Cover

The three-year insurance cover, offered in collaboration with the Government of Kenya, provides protection to officers serving under the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Administration Police Service (APS), and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), as well as staff of the Kenya Prisons Service.

According to the NPS, the scheme includes:

  • Last expense coverage
  • Group life assurance
  • Critical illness coverage
  • Permanent and total disability benefits (illness)
  • Protection under the Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA)
  • Group Personal Accident (GPA) cover for injuries or death occurring both in the course of duty and outside official working hours

Officials said the cover is designed to enhance financial security for officers and their families, both during active service and beyond.

Digital Access to Benefits

Officers have been encouraged to register and access their benefits through the My Britam Customer App and Portal to remain updated on their coverage details and claims process.
