ODM Parliamentary Group Endorses Suspension of Edwin Sifuna as Secretary General

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Orange Democratic Movement Parliamentary Group (PG) has formally endorsed a series of critical decisions by the party’s leadership, signaling a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Presided over by Party Leader Hon. Dr. Oburu Odinga, the meeting reaffirmed recent directives from the Central Committee and the National Executive Committee (NEC), including the installation of Dr. Oburu Oginga as Party Leader and the suspension of Edwin Sifuna as Secretary General.

The PG also confirmed the party’s intention to strengthen cooperation with the United Democratic Alliance under the ongoing broad-based government arrangement.

Members endorsed structured negotiations with UDA and other like-minded parties to form a coalition ahead of 2027.

Speaking after the meeting, National Assembly leader Junet Mohamed emphasized that the endorsements mark a decisive step in ODM’s strategic preparations for the 2027 elections, reinforcing the party’s autonomy and readiness to engage in coalition politics.

The parliamentary group’s resolutions reflect a period of internal consolidation and external coalition-building, positioning ODM to actively shape Kenya’s political landscape in the lead-up to the next general election.
