NAIROBI, Kenya- ODM Youth Wing leader, Kasmuel McOure, has come out in defence of Oketch Salah, describing him as a principled and loyal figure within the party and condemning efforts to undermine him.
Salah remained a private figure until the death of Raila Odinga thrust him into the limelight.
In a statement, McOure praised Salah’s character, saying he “embodies a rare generosity of spirit.
“He is kind to a fault and civil beyond measure, even in the face of conflict,” he said.
He added that Salah has faced online attacks from party leaders and opportunists who would not dare confront him directly.
“It cannot be that when you need first-class tickets for yourselves and your families, or access to high-level functions locally and internationally, you suddenly remember that he is one of Baba’s sons. Then, once you are comfortable, you unleash bloggers to slander him or send opportunists to deceive him,” he said.
My elder brother Oketch Salah embodies a rare generosity of spirit. He is kind to a fault and civil beyond measure, even in the face of conflict. I have watched people attack his person online, leaders who know better and would never dare utter these words to his face.It cannot
The youth leader further warned against attempts to isolate Dr. Oburu Oginga, ODM’s party leader, from his trusted allies.
He described these moves as “deliberate efforts to leave him exposed to disorganisation that falsely portrays him as a temporary leader.”
McOure emphasized that ODM’s direction flows from its party leader.
“You cannot enjoy the privilege of proximity to leadership and abandon its defence,” McOure said.
He urged party members to stop distractions and focus on protecting the party leadership.
“Let us keep our Party Leader dignified as he completes the work of liberation he began alongside his brother, Baba. Salah should continue working and protecting that office,” McOure said.
