NAIROBI, Kenya — The Office of the Attorney General on Tuesday hosted a civil marriage ceremony at its newly established VVIP Lounge, marking a fresh push to improve service delivery and enhance the experience for couples formalising their unions.
The new facility, launched ahead of the Valentine’s Day season, is designed to provide a dignified, serene and welcoming environment for the solemnisation of civil marriages, a departure from the traditionally administrative setting associated with such ceremonies.
Officials said the successful hosting of the first ceremony at the lounge represents a significant milestone in the Office’s efforts to modernise its services and offer more personalised and respectful experiences to citizens.
“The establishment of the VVIP Lounge reflects our commitment to citizen-centred service delivery and to creating spaces that uphold the dignity of important life milestones,” the Office said in a statement.

Beyond aesthetics, the lounge is intended to enhance efficiency and comfort for couples and their families, particularly during peak seasons such as Valentine’s, when demand for civil marriage services typically rises.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, the Office noted that the new facility adds a meaningful touch to celebrations of love, commitment and partnership, while reinforcing its broader agenda of continuous improvement in public service.
