BONDO, Kenya — President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo have arrived at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST) for the state funeral of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga.
The three leaders were received with full military honours amid tight security.
President Ruto’s motorcade arrived shortly after 9.30 a.m., followed by Uhuru Kenyatta, who shared a warm embrace with Raila’s family. Obasanjo, a close ally and long-time friend of the Odinga family, flew in last night to represent the African Union and Nigeria at the ceremony.
Inside the packed venue, clergy, diplomats, and opposition leaders led by Kalonzo Musyoka and Eugene Wamalwa joined the dignitaries for the solemn service, presided over by Anglican Bishop Prof. David Kodia of the Diocese of Bondo.
The leaders’ presence underscores Raila Odinga’s towering influence across Africa — a man remembered not only as a freedom fighter and reformist but also as a bridge-builder whose legacy transcended political divides.
