NAIROBI, Kenya — Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has criticised Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang following the senator’s defence of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, reigniting debate over alliances and direction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In a strongly worded social media post, Alai accused Kajwang of political futility and questioned his electoral credentials, claiming the senator was engaging in divisive manoeuvres within the party.
“I am told that Moses Kajwang, who hasn’t known how to campaign and win votes for himself, is on a mission of taking our party leader Oburu Odinga to Kalonzo Musyoka,” Alai wrote.
The outspoken MCA went further, telling the senator to “leave the class of Ting’ Bada Malo” — a phrase often used to describe political opportunism — and accused him of engaging in actions he termed futile.
I am told that Moses Kajwang who hasn’t known how to campaign and win votes for himself, is on a mission of taking our party leader Oburu Odinga to Kalonzo Musyoka.Senator Moses Kajwang’, it’s possible to ask for votes and be voted for. Please leave the class of Ting’ Bada
Alai’s remarks were a direct response to comments by Kajwang in which the senator defended the late former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga, even after the disputed 2022 General Election.
Kajwang argued that Raila held Uhuru in high regard throughout his lifetime and that the respect remained intact despite the election loss.
“We cannot rewrite the narrative just because Baba is no longer with us,” Kajwang said, adding that the 2022 election should not be used to sow confusion within ODM.
The senator called on the party to focus on unity and long-term goals, urging ODM to work with “all progressive parties” to deliver Kenyans to what he described as the “proverbial Canaan”.
