GATUNDU, Kenya – Three middle-aged men have been arraigned at the Gatundu Law Courts over allegations of sexually assaulting a young man in Gatundu Town, in a case the court described as sensitive and serious.
The suspects — Kelvin Muhoho, Daniel Kung’u and George Ndarwa — are accused of sodomising the complainant and inflicting severe injuries on his private parts.
According to the prosecution, the complainant is mentally incapacitated and is currently undergoing treatment at Gatundu Level Five Hospital, where he is said to be in recovery.
The trio appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Shadrack Otuke, as investigators sought more time to conclude inquiries into the alleged offence.
Through investigating officer Fredinah Kabuyesi, the State filed a miscellaneous application requesting that the suspects be detained for five days to allow police to complete investigations and record statements from key witnesses.
Prosecutors argued that releasing the suspects on cash bail could jeopardize the case, citing concerns that they might interfere with witnesses who had not yet recorded statements.
The court was also told that the suspects have no known fixed places of residence and could be exposed to mob justice if released.
However, Magistrate Otuke ruled that the prosecution had not sufficiently demonstrated how the suspects would interfere with witnesses if granted bail.
Despite this, the magistrate acknowledged the gravity and sexual nature of the allegations and allowed the State to detain the suspects for three days at Gatundu South Police Station as investigations continue.
The matter is scheduled for mention on February 5, 2026.
