NAIROBI, Kenya — The Office of former President Uhuru Kenyatta has issued a statement clarifying that he will not host a group of young people planning to visit his Ichaweri home in Gatundu.
In a statement dated February 22, and signed by Communications Secretary Kanze Dena Mararo, the Office acknowledged reports of an intended visit by a section of youth to the former President’s private residence.
While expressing appreciation for the enthusiasm and patriotism of Kenya’s youth, the statement noted that Kenyatta is currently not in a position to receive the group.
“The former President deeply respects the energy, ideas, and patriotism of Kenya’s youth. He firmly believes that dialogue between generations is essential for shaping the future of our nation, and he welcomes opportunities for constructive engagement,” the statement read in part.

However, the Office emphasized the need for prior coordination, urging organizers of such initiatives to formally communicate in advance to allow for structured and peaceful engagement.
“We encourage organizers of such initiatives to formally communicate with the Office in advance so that arrangements can be made for structured, peaceful, and meaningful dialogue,” the statement added.
The Office reiterated that the retired President remains open to engaging Kenyans in a dignified manner that promotes unity and mutual respect.
“Kenya belongs to all of us. Let us always choose dialogue over disruption and engagement over division,” the statement concluded.
The development comes amid heightened political activity in the country, with youth groups increasingly seeking direct engagement with senior political figures on governance and national issues ahead of 2027 polls.
