NAIROBI, Kenya – Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has revealed that Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungwa intervened to help Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa’s family gain access to a primary school field for burial meetings following the death of his mother, Lucia Wangari.
According to Wamuchomba, who is currently on a work tour in the United Kingdom, Thang’wa had sought assistance after the school management and local police denied him access to the school grounds.
“When the school management and OCPD denied you entry to the school, you called Hon Kimani Ichungwa to help secure the field. He later reached out to me, and we agreed to assist, which we did. Senator Methu also called me regarding the matter, and I assured that nobody would interfere. We all agreed that your late mother was above the issues. You even called me on my line to plead for help, Karungo,” Wamuchomba stated in a Facebook post.
The Githunguri legislator accused Thang’wa of turning his mother’s funeral into a political platform to attack her. She highlighted that Ichungwa personally coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure the smooth use of the school field for burial meetings.
Wamuchomba further urged Thang’wa to provide evidence for any allegations he had made, calling for a public apology to uphold the dignity of the late mother and respect the grieving family.
“All actions taken were meant to honor the late mother’s memory, facilitate the family’s mourning, and avoid unnecessary conflict during a sensitive time,” she said.
The MP also claimed that Thang’wa had received a Sh3 million donation from State House, which he allegedly instructed to be delivered to his partner on Kenyatta Road to prevent other siblings from accessing the funds.
“Tell the public you were also given Sh3 million from State House and advised that it be delivered to your baby mama who lives on Kenyatta Road, so that your siblings don’t claim it,” Wamuchomba alleged.
