KYIV, Ukraine — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held talks with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Dick Schoof, highlighting the urgent need for international support as Russia intensifies attacks on Ukrainian cities and communities.
In a statement, Zelensky said the Russian strategy is aimed at destruction rather than diplomacy, with the energy sector as a primary target.
He emphasized the critical need for assistance to strengthen Ukraine’s resilience, recovery, and air defense capabilities. “Missiles for air defense and all the necessary assistance for the energy system are the top priority at the moment,” he noted.
The discussion also covered coordination with the United States and potential future meetings to bolster support for Ukraine. Zelensky expressed gratitude for the Netherlands’ readiness to assist.
This diplomatic engagement comes amid a sustained campaign of Russian drone and missile strikes targeting Ukraine’s infrastructure, underscoring the strategic importance of international aid for both civilian protection and national recovery efforts.
By seeking support from European partners, Zelensky aims to ensure sufficient resources for air defense systems and energy sector repairs, which are crucial for maintaining public services and civilian safety amid ongoing attacks.
