“All My Enemies Are Suffering”: Kalonzo Laughs Off 2027 Exit Rumors

Date:

Nairobi, Kenya — Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed reports that he has stepped down from the 2027 presidential race, turning what could have been a political storm into a viral moment.

In a video seen by Y News and posted on his X and TikTok accounts on Friday, September 19, Kalonzo was asked by an off-camera interviewer about claims — allegedly pushed by government-aligned bloggers — that he had abandoned his bid. He burst into laughter, rhetorically asking, “When did this happen?”

The laughter quickly turned into a social media moment. As Bien’s hit song “All My Enemies Are Suffering” kicked in the background, Kalonzo leaned into the lyrics, repeating: “All my enemies are suffering… (laughs).”

Kalonzo Stays Firm on 2027 Ambition

Behind the humor, Kalonzo made it clear he is not backing out of the 2027 race. The United Opposition co-principal insisted that he will be on the ballot, calling the resignation claims desperate propaganda.

“I know all my enemies are suffering, because they know I will definitely be on the ballot come 2027, God willing,” he said.

The former vice president has been under pressure amid speculation he could align with President William Ruto’s camp, a move he has consistently ruled out.

Politics, Pop Culture, and a Viral Moment

This isn’t the first time Kalonzo has had to quash rumors about his political future, but the “enemies are suffering” clip stands out for its mix of politics and pop culture. By riffing off Bien’s chart-topping track, Kalonzo not only dismissed the claims but also tapped into a cultural wave, making his rebuttal instantly relatable to younger voters online.

The moment also underscores how Kenyan politicians are increasingly blending political messaging with viral-friendly content, particularly on TikTok and X, where satire, humor, and music often amplify political narratives.

Closing Note

For Kalonzo, the laughter may have done more than words ever could. By borrowing a lyric to mock his detractors, he turned a rumor into a rallying cry — and made clear that, in his eyes, the 2027 race is still wide open.
