Kenyans celebrate after President Ruto Dissolves Entire Cabinet: “Anguka Nayo”

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya: Kenyans are in a state of euphoria following President William Ruto’s decision to dismiss the entire cabinet save for the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

On Thursday, July 11, the president fired 21 cabinet secretaries and the Attorney General, saying the decision was necessary after reflecting on recent events in the country.

“I am acutely aware that the people of Kenya have high expectations of me and believe that this administration can undertake the most extensive transformation in our nation’s history.”

Kenyans have keenly followed the government recently as Gen Z protests took center stage, leading to the President withdrawing the controversial 2024 Finance Bill

The move, which came as a surprise, was received euphorically as both online and offline Kenyans celebrated Ruto.

Those who had anticipated, at best, a cabinet reshuffle and some changes were thrilled to acknowledge the power of Kenyans who took to the streets demanding change.

“The DEED is done.  Thanks President @WilliamsRuto” Said Makau Mutua

“Let me NEVER hear someone saying social media has NO power! This is a powerful example of how social media can change our future and for everyone to take cognizance of the changing face of governance and democracy facilitated by technology!!!” Lizzie Ntonjira said.

“Truly, Kenya will never be the same again. #GenZ, I salute you. Now the hard work begins. The process of reengineering the Country’s politics, policies, and overall development trajectory must be tailored to reflect the aspirations of our youth and protect the prospects for future generations. We must completely eliminate the notion that public office is an extractive industry.” said Nzioka Waita.

“Sacking all the Cabinet Secretaries is a solid start.” Senator Edwin Sifuna also weighed in on the topic.

“Wake up our dear neighbor!!! Kenyans are taking back their country and punishing their government!!!” said Hanifa.

Dennis Ombachi: “We the people have power if we set our differences aside and unite for a good cause.

Polo Kimani: “Don’t get so excited, wazee. Until that parliament is dissolved and we have chosen fresh, uncorrupted blood there,we are still not out of the woods YET. Parliament is the epicenter, pale ndio corruption huenda.”

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who also serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, was the only one spared the purge.

President Ruto stated that Principal Secretaries will temporarily coordinate the affairs of the Ministries until a new definitive Cabinet is appointed.

He emphasized that the new Cabinet will be named after extensive consultations across all sectors to ensure a well-rounded and effective team.
