NAIROBI, Kenya- A passenger plane arriving from Kisumu International Airport veered off the runway at Wilson Airport on Friday evening, causing brief disruption.

All 39 passengers and crew onboard escaped unharmed.

According to the Kenya Airports Authority, the incident occurred at around 2055HRS.

The aircraft remains at the scene as recovery efforts continue.

“We wish to confirm that all passengers and crew are safe, with no injuries reported,” KAA said in a statement.

Operations at Wilson Airport were not affected and continued as normal.

Police spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga confirmed the incident, noting that details were still limited.

He said the aircraft had been flying from Kisumu to Nairobi when the incident occurred, adding that no injuries had been reported.

Witnesses described tense moments as passengers quickly exited the aircraft after landing.

Videos circulating online showed passengers standing on the runway as officials guided them to safety.

The cause of the runway incident remains unclear, with investigations now underway.

Authorities say the situation is under control and have urged calm as they work to establish what led to the hard landing.

The Kenya Airports Authority reiterated its commitment to maintaining high safety standards as recovery of the aircraft continues.
