Kisumu Robbery Turns Deadly as Gang Escapes With Alcohol

KISUMU, Kenya- Police are hunting for a gang that raided a restaurant in Holo, Kisumu County, killing an employee and injuring three others in a violent robbery.

The attack occurred on the morning of February 23 when five men armed with pangas and other crude weapons stormed the premises.

The deceased was identified as Edwin Kosgei, a receptionist at the restaurant.

Attack and Escape

According to police and witnesses, the gang violently assaulted staff before escaping with alcoholic drinks from the establishment.

Three other employees, including security guards, sustained injuries during the incident.

Officers responding to the scene established that the suspects had already fled by the time police arrived.

Body Moved to Mortuary

Police said the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

Detectives later visited the scene as part of ongoing investigations and announced that efforts were underway to track down those responsible.

Authorities have not disclosed the value of the stolen items.

Kisumu Crime Concerns

The incident has intensified pressure on police to address what residents describe as a rising trend of violent crime in parts of Kisumu County.

Police have urged members of the public with information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects to come forward.

Investigations are ongoing.
