NAIROBI, Kenya — A confrontation erupted early Saturday at a Karen property owned by former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju after he accused police officers of forcibly taking over the premises in a pre-dawn operation.
Tuju said the incident happened at about 3:00 am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, and involved officers he identified as members of the Rapid Response Unit (RRU).
Tuju claimed the officers entered the compound without producing a court order, ejected his guards and security team, and occupied the property by force.
He said he would not leave, insisting the operation was unlawful.

The property at the centre of the standoff is Dari Business Park in Karen, where Tuju has in recent days been locked in a high-stakes dispute over ownership and control.
He said more than 50 officers arrived in several vehicles, some of them unmarked, before forcing workers out of parts of the complex.
The dramatic dawn incident comes against the backdrop of a long-running Sh2.2 billion loan dispute involving Tuju, his company Dari Limited, auctioneers and valuers.
Earlier this week, the High Court declined to immediately halt the execution of a ruling that cleared the way for the auction of prime Karen properties linked to the dispute.
Justice Josephine Wambui Mong’are declined to grant the interim orders sought by Tuju and Dari Limited after an earlier decision delivered on March 9, 2026.
