NAIROBI, Kenya — The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has launched investigations into the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju following a missing person report lodged at Karen Police Station.
In a press release dated March 22, the DCI said Tuju was reported missing by his family on Sunday after his motor vehicle was discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen with its hazard lights on.
A nearby security guard alerted authorities, prompting officers from Karen Police Station to respond.
The scene was processed by Crime Scene Investigators before the vehicle was towed to the police station for forensic examination. Investigators said efforts to reach Tuju have so far been unsuccessful, noting that his mobile phone remains switched off.
A specialised team has since been deployed to handle the case, working in coordination with other government agencies to establish his whereabouts.
The DCI said the team is using all available investigative resources and techniques to determine the circumstances surrounding the reported disappearance.
While progress is being made, investigators noted that an attempt to access Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive was denied by the family.
The agency urged cooperation from all parties, including unrestricted access to relevant locations and prompt provision of information to support a swift resolution.
Authorities have also appealed to members of the public who may have seen Tuju, his vehicle, or any suspicious activity in the Miotoni Lane or greater Karen area before, on, or after March 21, 2026, to come forward.
Information can be shared confidentially through the DCI toll-free line or at the nearest police station.
The DCI said investigations remain ongoing and further updates will be issued as significant developments emerge.
