Woman Arrested for Murder After Boyfriend Falls from 14th Floor in Kilimani

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – A weekend altercation between a couple in Kilimani ended in tragedy when a 25-year-old man fell to his death from the 14th floor of an apartment along Kindaruma Road.

The deceased, identified as Lee Owino, was found lying atop the roof of a parked salon car in the apartment’s parking lot, with both legs visibly broken.

Neighbours and security guards reportedly heard a loud thud and rushed to investigate, discovering the victim moments after the fall.

Police investigations indicate that Owino and his 48-year-old girlfriend had checked into the apartment on November 28 for a weekend stay.

On Saturday, they were joined by a male friend for a drinking session that lasted until early Sunday.

According to the woman, the friend left the apartment before the fatal incident occurred.

An argument between Owino and the woman reportedly escalated after he allegedly assaulted her.

During the ensuing physical struggle, police believe the woman pushed Owino off the balcony, resulting in his immediate death upon impact.

The woman remained in the apartment, apparently unaware of the incident, until neighbours and police woke her.

Authorities recovered assorted drugs and used alcohol bottles from the apartment during the investigation.

Owino’s body has been moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Kilimani Police Commander Patricia Yegon confirmed that the woman is in custody and is expected to appear in court on Monday.

Police are seeking additional time to hold her as investigations continue, particularly to locate the male friend who left the apartment prior to the fall.

“This is being treated as a murder case. We are examining all circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Yegon.
