MP Kimani Ichung’wah Heckled During Ruto’s Nyandarua Tour

Date:

OL KALOU, Kenya – Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah faced a hostile reception in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, as he attempted to address residents during President William Ruto’s development tour in the region.

Ichung’wah, a close ally of the President, was met with boos and chants from sections of the crowd, making it difficult for him to deliver his speech.

The heckling began immediately after ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo had addressed the gathering.

Taking his position on top of a vehicle, Ichung’wah attempted to sell the government’s agenda, but was met with jeers and resistance.

In response, the MP defiantly told the hecklers in Kikuyu, “No one sells me fear.”

However, the crowd remained unrelenting, forcing him to cut his speech short.

Ichung’wah was among several leaders accompanying President Ruto on his Mount Kenya tour, where he inspected and launched key projects, including Ol Kalou Water Project, J.M. Memorial Hospital Complex, last Mile Connectivity Program, Ol Kalou Sewerage Project, and affordable Housing Project Foundation Stone Laying

Earlier in the day, Ruto hosted Mathira women at Sagana State Lodge in honor of the late Ann Wanjiru Mumbuchi, a grassroots leader known for leading the 1,000-member Mathira Women Choir.

The President praised Mumbuchi’s dedication to women empowerment and community development, noting that her contributions would be remembered.

Ichung’wah’s rough reception comes amid increasing discontent in some sections of the Mount Kenya region, with some residents expressing frustration over economic hardships and unfulfilled government promises.
