NYS Announces 200 Driving Jobs for Graduates in Nationwide Recruitment Drive

NAIROBI, Kenya – The National Youth Service (NYS) has unveiled 200 job openings for its certified graduates, offering them an opportunity to serve as professional drivers across all of Kenya’s 47 counties.

The recruitment is in partnership with a reputable public transport operator that has been in service for over 15 years, steadily growing its fleet from 30 to 300 vehicles.

The expansion signals a growing demand for trained, reliable drivers to support its nationwide operations.

“With competitive salary packages, our client wishes to employ NYS graduates for their resilience and discipline in the position of drivers across all 47 counties in Kenya,” NYS said in a statement posted on X.

Eligibility and Application Process

The recruitment is exclusive to NYS graduates who hold a BCE-Class Professional Driving Certification.

Candidates must also have a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license issued by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Minimum Requirements:

  • KCSE mean grade of D+ or equivalent
  • Proficiency in both English and Kiswahili
  • Valid Certificate of Good Conduct (issued within the last six months)
  • Aged between 23 and 35 years
  • Good physical and medical health
  • At least five years of accident-free driving experience
  • Must have passed a driving proficiency test or a suitability test from an approved government authority

Additional qualifications in customer service, hospitality, communication, defensive driving, or first aid will be considered an advantage.

Job Description

Selected drivers will be responsible for:

  • Operating vehicles in compliance with Kenyan traffic laws and NTSA regulations
  • Conducting routine maintenance and daily operational checks
  • Monitoring fuel use, mileage logs, warning lights, and general vehicle condition
