Two of Kenya’s most iconic luxury destinations — Nairobi’s Giraffe Manor and Laikipia’s Solio Lodge — have been recognised among the 20 properties featured in the 2025 Forbes Travel Guide Edge List, placing Kenya firmly on the global luxury tourism map.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano hailed the recognition as proof of Kenya’s growing reputation in the international hospitality space.
“Global recognition for Kenyan hospitality is a testament to our place on the global stage. Plan and come home!” Miano urged tourists.
The Edge List, unveiled on Wednesday, celebrates properties that deliver unmatched luxury in extraordinary settings, from wilderness retreats to cultural immersion experiences.

Kenyan Gems Shine on Global Stage
Giraffe Manor, part of The Safari Collection, is world-famous for its resident herd of endangered Rothschild’s giraffes, which wander freely around the property, often poking their heads through dining room windows to join guests at breakfast or afternoon tea.
Solio Lodge, nestled in the Solio Game Reserve, is celebrated not only for its exclusive safari experience but also for its pioneering rhino conservation efforts, offering guests an intimate connection with wildlife in a serene setting.
Honourees were selected through in-person inspections, editorial research, and data analysis by Forbes Travel Guide’s incognito team.
Elite Company
Kenya’s two lodges join a prestigious line-up that spans more than 10 countries.
Other destinations on the list include NIHI Sumba in Indonesia, One&Only Gorilla’s Nest in Rwanda, The Brando in French Polynesia, and Southern Ocean Lodge in Australia.
Forbes noted that the 2025 Edge List was guided by four pillars, captured in the acronym EDGE:
- Exceptional access to awe-inspiring destinations
- Daring innovation in travel experiences
- Global stewardship prioritising conservation and community care
- Elevated experiences that guarantee excellence even in remote locations
A Boost for Kenyan Tourism
The recognition adds to Kenya’s growing visibility as a luxury safari and conservation destination, at a time when the government is keen to diversify its tourism offerings beyond traditional beach and wildlife safaris.
With Giraffe Manor and Solio Lodge now ranked among the world’s most remarkable properties, Kenya’s blend of conservation, culture, and comfort is set to draw even greater international attention.
