PGK Equator Tour Swings Into Scenic Mount Kipipiri for a Four-Day Golf Spectacle

The Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) Equator Tour tees off its third leg at the breathtaking Mount Kipipiri Golf & Resort in Nyandarua County. Running from August 14th to 17th, 2025, the four-day tournament is another stop in Kenya’s growing push to raise the profile of professional golf.

The lush greens and crisp highland air make Kipipiri a golfer’s dream, but the layout here is as punishing as it is beautiful.

Rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and the occasional gust of mountain wind promise to keep even the most seasoned players on their toes.

This year’s Kipipiri showdown features 43 elite professional golfers, all chasing tour ranking points and valuable Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points. For many, this it’s a stepping stone toward international recognition and even a potential shot at Olympic qualification in 2028.

Top contenders on the course include: Edwin Mudanyi, Erick Ooko, Abraham Galgallo, and Njuguna Ngugi — all backed by NCBA, which has invested heavily in the sport. Their sponsorship includes training support, travel logistics, and specialized equipment — essentials for peak performance.

On the other side of the fairway, Safaricom is making waves with its sponsored roster featuring Mutahi Kibugu, Mohit Mediratta, Samuel Njoroge, and Matthew Wahome. They come armed with coaching resources and performance tools that could tip the scales in their favor.

Mount Kipipiri Golf & Resort offers an experience. Perched against the backdrop of the Aberdare Ranges, the course winds through lush terrain, with wildlife occasionally making a cameo on the fairways. It’s the kind of place where precision golf meets postcard scenery.

As Kenya’s professionals battle it out in Kipipiri, they are also part of a much larger narrative — one where golf is moving from a niche sport to a mainstream competitive pursuit. The presence of multiple sponsors, extensive media coverage, and strategic partnerships is proof that this transformation is well underway.

After Kipipiri, the tour will head to its next destination which is yet to be disclosed.
