Kenyan musician and reality star Bahati (Kevin Mbuvi Kioko) has alleged that his family narrowly escaped a harrowing ordeal after armed gangsters reportedly attempted to raid his home in the early hours of the morning.
In a post shared on Instagram, Bahati claimed that the incident unfolded between 4:27 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., when a group of unknown assailants targeted his residence. The singer, however, did not disclose whether the gang managed to gain entry, if there were injuries, or whether any property was stolen.
The revelation comes only days after Bahati and his wife, Diana Marua, made headlines for flaunting bundles of cash on social media. In his post, Bahati appeared to suggest that the public display of wealth could have influenced the attempted break-in.
“Today my home was almost raided by armed gangsters between 4:27 a.m. and 5:30 a.m.,” Bahati wrote.
So far, neither police nor mainstream news outlets have confirmed the claim, and there has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities regarding the alleged raid.
The incident has sparked debate online, with many fans expressing concern for the couple’s safety while others criticized their tendency to showcase wealth on social media. Security experts have long warned celebrities and influencers against flaunting valuables online, noting that such actions can make them easy targets for criminals.
Bahati, who has built a reputation as one of Kenya’s most visible entertainers, has previously courted controversy over his flashy lifestyle and reality show content. His claim has once again thrown him into the spotlight—this time, over matters of personal security.
As of now, the alleged raid remains a claim made through Bahati’s own social media platforms. Fans await further details, including whether the police have launched investigations or if the incident has been formally reported.
The allegations come days after Bahati had been called out for not honoring Harambee Stars Sh.1,000,000 pledge he had promised for the Kenya vs Morocco group stage match.
Bahati has claimed frustrations over delivering the money. Some fans have however accused him of clout chasing with the national team.
