NAIROBI, Kenya— Drivers and couriers working under Bolt are set to benefit from a new road safety initiative following a collaborative training workshop held in Nairobi on Monday.
The program, led in partnership with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), the National Police Service, and Nairobi City County Government, aims to improve safety awareness and professionalism among digital transport service providers.
The training focused on critical areas such as adherence to traffic laws, safe use of the Bolt app, behavioral conduct on the road, and basic first aid.
It comes amid growing concerns over rising traffic incidents and lax safety compliance among public service and commercial drivers in urban areas.
NTSA Road Safety Program Manager, Samuel Musumba asserted that the move will have far reaching effects in Kenya’s fight against road carnage.
“We aim to cut road deaths by 50% this year. Partnerships like this with private operators are essential if we’re to meet that goal,”he said.
Bolt said the training was designed not only to equip its drivers and riders with safety tools but also to align them with national safety expectations.
The firm also used the event to recognize top-performing couriers from its Bolt Food platform, acknowledging their service and professionalism.
For drivers, the training offers practical knowledge and a renewed sense of accountability key ingredients for safer roads and better commuter experiences across the city.
