NAIROBI, Kenya – The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NAWASCO) employee for allegedly forging academic documents to secure employment and fraudulently earning over Sh9 million in public funds.
Edwin Amagola Munyeti is accused of using a fake Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate, purportedly issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), to land a job at NAWASCO in 2010.
According to the EACC, Munyeti’s appointment was based on the forged academic paper, which enabled him to receive a total of Sh9,080,267 in salaries between March 2010 and December 2023—earnings the Commission now considers to have been illegally obtained.

Following investigations, the case file was forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved charges against Munyeti, including deceiving a principal, forgery, and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
Munyeti was processed at the EACC’s headquarters at Integrity Centre in Nairobi. He is expected to take a plea in court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The arrest adds to growing concerns over the use of fake academic credentials in public service, as the government intensifies efforts to weed out unqualified individuals from state payrolls.
