NYAMIRA, Kenya – The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday carried out coordinated search operations at the official and private residences of Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo as part of investigations into the alleged misuse of Sh382 million meant for the construction of county government offices.
The anti-graft agency also raided the offices and homes of several senior county officials in Nyamira, Kisii, and Nairobi counties, targeting documents, financial records, and digital evidence linked to the project.
EACC said the searches were conducted following the execution of court-issued warrants and were part of standard procedures to establish facts and determine accountability.
“The operation sought to obtain records relevant to the ongoing inquiry into the procurement, award, and payment processes associated with the Nyamira County Government offices construction project,” the Commission said in a statement.
Investigators are examining whether payments made under the contract correspond to the actual work done, amid concerns that funds may have been irregularly disbursed.
EACC also confirmed that part of the probe involves reviewing authorizations for specific payments made within the county administration.
The Commission emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that no conclusions have been reached regarding culpability or wrongdoing by any individual.
“These searches are part of EACC’s mandate to promote integrity and transparency in the management of public resources, particularly in major infrastructure projects,” officials said.
The Sh382 million project, initiated to provide modern administrative offices for the Nyamira County Government, has faced scrutiny over its slow progress and alleged irregularities in procurement and payment approvals.
