FKF Condemns Violence at Gusii Stadium, Vows to Take Disciplinary Action

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has strongly condemned the violent clashes that broke out at Gusii Stadium during a match between Shabana FC and Gor Mahia FC.

In a statement, the federation emphasized that football should be a unifying force, not one that divides or puts lives at risk.

FKF announced that it is collaborating with authorities to investigate the root causes of the violence and promised decisive disciplinary action once the investigation is complete.

“FKF strongly condemns all forms of violence in our stadiums. Football must remain a sport that brings people together — not one that puts lives at risk,” the statement read.

The federation also reassured fans, players, and officials that their safety and well-being remain a top priority.

FKF President Hussein Mohammed expressed his disappointment, stating that violence has no place in the sport and that it was time for more decisive action.

“It’s time for more action and less talk. What happened today at Gusii Stadium is unacceptable. FKF will act decisively,” he said.

The violence, which reportedly left several fans injured, erupted when supporters of Gor Mahia and Shabana FC clashed, throwing stones at each other in the stands.

Despite efforts by stadium announcers to calm the situation and calls for ambulances, the chaos continued, forcing the match to be marred by violence.
