NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power outage on Monday, May 5, 2025, for essential maintenance across several regions.
The planned exercise will affect parts of Nandi, Nyamira, and Mombasa counties from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In the North Rift region, Chebarbar in Nandi County will experience a power interruption, impacting surrounding areas. The maintenance is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In the South Nyanza region, areas in Nyamira County, including Kebirigo, Kenyenya, and Sang’anyi, will also be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Affected locations include Kebirigo Factory, Kebirigo Boys, Mokomoni Market, Bonyunyu area, Kenyenya, Sang’anyi Factory, Nyaramba Market, Kiabonyoru, Isinta Market, Nyagokiani Secondary School, and Enkinda, among others.
In Mombasa, parts of Changamwe will experience a blackout from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas such as Pamba Road, Miracle Park, Kenya Railways, KMC, Total Depot, and several estates and businesses in the region.

Kenya Power urged customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take note of the maintenance schedule.
The utility explained that scheduled interruptions are necessary for network maintenance, system upgrades, and essential repairs to ensure reliability and efficiency of the power grid.
While unplanned outages can occur due to faults or external factors such as vandalism, Kenya Power aims to minimize disruptions through regular maintenance.
Residents are advised to stay updated on any changes to the schedule and prepare for the power interruptions.
