Four Arrested in Thika Over Sh3.2M Bidco Goods Scam Using Forged LPOs

Date:

Nairobi, Kenya- Detectives have arrested four suspects in Thika accused of using forged Local Purchase Orders to fraudulently obtain Bidco products worth more than Sh3,249,500.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) identified the suspects as Haron Mwangi Ndungu, James Nyaga Munyutha, Philip Njenga, and Paul Ngugi. Investigators say the group forged LPOs bearing Chandaria Ltd’s letterhead, enabling them to collect Bidco deliveries on multiple occasions.

According to the DCI, the suspects had successfully pulled off the scheme twice before detectives closed in.

After weeks of undercover surveillance, officers from the Operations Actions Team (OAT) intercepted the group as they attempted yet another heist — this time targeting goods valued at Sh1,770,740.

The suspects were caught inside an Isuzu lorry, registration KDB 249Z, allegedly en route to Bidco with another fake LPO. Haron Mwangi Ndungu was driving, with the three accomplices on board.

All four suspects are now in custody and will be arraigned.
