NAIROBI, Kenya- German industrial supplies company Würth Group has announced it will shut down its Kenyan subsidiary, Würth Kenya Ltd, ending nearly three decades of operations in the country.
The Nairobi-based distributor confirmed the decision in a notice dated March 10, 2026, informing customers and partners that the company will cease operations as part of a wider restructuring strategy by its German parent company.
Würth Kenya said it will continue operating normally during the transition period before officially closing its business by the end of May 2026.
In the notice sent to customers, the company confirmed the decision was made after careful consideration.
“We regret to inform you that Wuerth Kenya will be ceasing its operations and formally closing down its business. This decision has been made after careful consideration and forms part of a broader strategic restructuring of the Wuerth Group’s operations,” the company stated.
The announcement was signed by Managing Director John Anderson, who also assured customers that the company would work to ensure an orderly shutdown process.
Anderson said Würth Kenya will continue fulfilling orders and managing customer accounts until the final closure date.
“The company will continue to manage all pending obligations and ensure an orderly transition during this closure period and we will trade as normal until the end of May 2026,” Anderson said
Customers with ongoing orders, accounts or business engagements have been advised to contact the company so that all matters can be finalized before the shutdown.
Würth Kenya has operated in the country for 29 years, supplying industrial tools, fasteners, and assembly products to sectors such as automotive repair, construction, engineering, and manufacturing.
The company is part of the global Würth Group, a German multinational known for supplying fastening and assembly materials to businesses across the world.
The group operates in more than 80 countries, making it one of the largest distributors of industrial supplies globally.
During its time in Kenya, Würth built a reputation for providing premium tools and workshop equipment to garages, vehicle assemblers, and industrial businesses.
The company’s Nairobi operations also served a network of corporate and industrial clients across East Africa.
According to the company’s statement, the closure of the Kenyan subsidiary is part of a broader restructuring effort by the parent company.
“This decision has been made after careful consideration and forms part of a broader strategic restructuring of the Würth Group’s operations,” the notice stated.
Würth said it will focus on ensuring a smooth transition for customers and partners before exiting the market.
The company has asked customers with outstanding orders or pending accounts to liaise with its teams to ensure all matters are concluded before the closure.
In the notice, Würth also expressed gratitude to its clients and partners who supported the business throughout its time in Kenya.
“We deeply value the relationships we have built and appreciate your support throughout the years,” the company said
The management emphasized that the closure process will be handled professionally and in accordance with business and legal requirements.
The company has played a role in supporting businesses that rely on high-quality fastening systems, tools and workshop supplies across the automotive and manufacturing sectors.
