NAIROBI, Kenya — The NYOTA Project officially launched its business support component on 7th November 2025 at Mumias Sports Complex, Kakamega County, marking the rollout of startup capital disbursement to the Western cluster beneficiaries.
A total of 12,155 youth from Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, and Busia counties received Sh303,875,000, with each beneficiary accessing Sh22,000 through their NYOTA Pochi la Biashara.
Of this amount, Sh3,000 is set aside for savings — 30% accessible short-term and 70% tied to the project tenure — promoting financial resilience and enabling access to mainstream financial services in the future.
The beneficiaries, who successfully completed the mandatory classroom business training, will now undergo a two-month mentorship program led by business development experts.
Following this, they will attend a three-day advanced training aimed at linking them to the broader business ecosystem.
The final tranche of start-up capital will be disbursed after the completion of this second training and mentorship phase.
The NYOTA Project aims to empower over 100,000 vulnerable youth across all 1,450 wards in Kenya, alongside 5,000 refugees in Kakuma and Dadaab camps and an additional 5,000 from host communities.
The countrywide rollout of trainings continues, with 25 counties scheduled for simultaneous sessions starting 14th November 2025, targeting 63,231 youth beneficiaries.
A total of 222 training centres have been mapped out to accommodate participants within their respective constituencies, with startup capital to be disbursed immediately after the classroom sessions.
The remaining 18 counties, including Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kiambu, are scheduled to commence training towards the end of next week.
