HOMA BAY, Kenya — Police have seized 2,353 rolls of bhang and arrested a suspect during an anti-narcotics operation in Homa Bay County, as authorities intensify efforts to disrupt drug trafficking networks along the lakeside region.
In a statement, the National Police Service said officers from Kendubay Police Station acted on intelligence received during a routine patrol at Achuodho Beach.
According to police, information indicated that a tuk-tuk suspected to be ferrying narcotics had been seen offloading sacks at a rental house in the area.
Officers moved to the premises and conducted a search, recovering four sacks of cannabis sativa believed to have been packaged for illegal distribution.
“One suspect was arrested and taken into custody pending processing and arraignment in court,” the police said.
The recovered narcotics were secured at Kendubay Police Station as exhibits.
The operation forms part of ongoing anti-narcotics efforts targeting trafficking routes and storage points in Homa Bay County, particularly along beach corridors that authorities say are increasingly exploited by criminal networks.
The National Police Service commended members of the public for providing timely information and praised officers involved in the operation, reaffirming its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related crimes.
