NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has transitioned its procurement process to the government’s Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, in a shift it says will boost transparency, accountability, and efficiency.
The announcement was made in Nairobi on Thursday, October 2, marking what the agency described as a major milestone in aligning with the presidential directive on full adoption of digital procurement.
KAA’s Acting Managing Director, Dr. Mohamud Gedi, said the digitisation would streamline workflows across the authority’s vast operations, which cover 19 directorates and more than 147 cost centres.
“Achieving this was no small feat. It demonstrates our collective commitment to operational excellence and compliance,” he said.
Board Chairman Caleb Kositany said publishing the Annual Procurement Plan on the e-GP platform signalled KAA’s dedication to embracing innovation in public service.
“By moving procurement online, we are building trust with our suppliers and ensuring a more transparent, efficient system,” he said.
The authority credited its procurement team led by Vincent Korir, alongside internal staff and experts from the National Treasury, for facilitating the transition.
KAA urged suppliers and service providers to register on the e-GP platform, stressing that all procurement transactions with the agency will now be conducted exclusively online.
The authority said the change is expected to cut delays, improve oversight, and make it easier for suppliers to access opportunities.
It also places KAA among the leading state agencies driving the government’s wider digital transformation agenda.
“With this shift to digital procurement, we are setting our sights high and positioning KAA as a leader in innovation within Kenya’s transport and infrastructure sector,” the authority said in a statement.
